Empowering the Regions

The Regional Enterprise Development Initiative (REDI) is a web-based portal for interaction and information sharing. REDI provides a space to support sustainable regional business development, fulfilling a need of the regional business communities. Business development and regional economic growth that is inclusive and addresses some of the challenges of growing business requires access to information, capacity development of the SMEs, and understanding of socio-economic conditions for business and sustainable growth. The information platform should be accessible in local language preferences serving a wider section of the regional business community who are in search of such information.

For potential investors and partners, access to information and regional business communities together with challenges and opportunities provides greater interest. It supports the development of projects that accommodate and build on the potentials and strengths that already exist in the regions.

As such, the REDI platform includes but is not limited to regional economic development support initiatives of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. REDI provides the space for open dialogue about issues or opportunities for investment in the regions, access to business communities , Chambers of Commerce and opportunities for business development.

  • It functions as a hub for information sharing in English, Sinhala and Tamil for:
  • Business people who represent SMEs in the regions to share information about their products and business environment in their region as well as to connect and network with other business partners.
  • External business interest groups that are interested in investing and partnering in the regions as well as supporting other business support initiatives.
  • Local investors and Urban based companies to link up with regional SMEs for trade and investment.
